• Creativity in 2016

Do you have fun creative plans for 2016?  Are you trying something new or sticking with your tried and true craft?  As you all probably already know, I like crocheting the best.  It’s my ‘go-to’ craft because I’ve been doing it so long it’s 2nd nature to me.  But I also want to learn something new this year. I tried learning Continental knitting last year, but never had a lot of time to stick with it.  I got a video from Craftsy that teaches Continental knitting.  I watched the first part of the video last fall and I think I have the knitting down pat.  But of course I haven’t…

  • A very crafty week ahead

Yep, that’s what I have come up, a very crafty week.  My mom, sister and I are going to a scrapbooking conference this weekend.  Though we like scrapbooking, it’s not one of our favorite crafts.  But this conference has classes for other crafts besides just scrapbooking.  But mainly it’s a time for us three to get together for a weekend of fun.  We’ll be staying at the hotel where the conference is, learning some new crafts, having 2 whole days of crafting and of course, lots of eating.  🙂 We’ll be meeting for lunch on Thursday, then driving the hour drive to the town the conference is in.  Then we’ll…

  • Learing new things

I’ve been knitting and crocheting since I was in my teens, my mom taught me.  I’ve always taken to crocheting more than knitting, knitting just seems so much more involved and hard at times.  Then I hurt my shoulder when we still lived in Illinois, and knitting really aggravated it, so I’ve stuck strictly to crocheting for many years now.  But I’ve always wanted to start knitting again.  I learned that continental knitting didn’t have as much arm/shoulder movements, so I tried to learn it, but just never could.  I watched YouTube videos, read about it, I just couldn’t get it so I stopped trying. Then I was talking with…

  • My current crochet project

I finally picked up my crocheting again this past week.  During the summer I just didn’t seem to have the desire or time to crochet a whole lot.  I know some people who knit and/or crochet when they are feeling stressed and need to relax.  I do that too, in a way.  But I need to have most of my ‘to-do’ list done for the day before I can relax and enjoy a good audio book while crocheting.  If I still have things to do and I stop to crochet, I feel lazy.  Not sure why, but I do.  So it can limit my time with the hook.  Maybe it’s…

  • I’m knitting

It’s our weekend right now and I enjoyed a wonderful day at home with the family relaxing, making some goulash for dinner and working on my crafts.  It was a new recipe for the goulash and it turned out so good.  One of those comfort foods that sounded real yummy to try on these cold days.   I need to organize the drawers I keep my paper crafts in.  I do like to organize, but today it just sounded like too much work.  So instead I decided to work with some Sashay yarn I bought recently. I’m truly more of a crocheter than a knitter.  My mom taught me how…
