• My summer continued

Like I said in another post, I’ve had some medical issues these past months.  During the middle of May, when we were trying to get schooling done, graduation set up and Sarah settled, I found I was not only highly anemic but had very low red blood count.  I knew I was more tired for the past year or so, but I was always excusing it away.  I just need to push harder, I’m not taking care of myself enough etc…  Turns out there was a very valid reason I was so exhausted.  I had to have two iron infusions, which helped some, but then I had to have surgery…

  • It’s that time of year

No, I’m not talking about the weather, though it is that time of year of severe cold.  We have been waking up to about -10 to -15 the past few mornings, and barely getting to single digits during the day. Today we went to the library before it got dark, because during the day it was at least 1 out, but once the sun goes down it drops down below zero again. We should get up to the 20’s and 30’s in about 5 days, and I am really looking forward to that. During these arctic cold blasts it always reminds how blessed I am to have such a warm…

  • Things are flowing right along

It’s been a good week so far.  The kids did a half day lessons on Monday for Presidents day.  We school 4 days a week, so we don’t take lots of one day holidays, but we gave them the choice this time.  But they would have to double up their work Thursday – Saturday.  So they decided to do a couple of subjects on Monday, so it wasn’t a full day Monday, yet they won’t have to double up too much the other days.  It worked out perfectly.  Today & tomorrow are our days off, and it’s nice to relax.  I’ve been in sweat pants curled up on the couch…

  • Presents, cookies and other things

I’m so excited, I have finished all the Christmas presents I’ve been working on.  They are finished, wrapped and ready to be mailed.  I really should have started on these presents earlier than I did, but I’m glad I finished them.  For a while there I wasn’t sure if they would get done or not. Now that they are done I have more time to do some other things.  Hubby and I are going to go Christmas shopping for the kids this Wednesday.  We always have so much fun going out together every year and shop for the kids.  We have lunch, shop and just spend time together.  I am…

  • Curriculum

I am so excited, Paul and I have all our curriculum picked out for the kids next year.  We always buy it around now with tax money, and though we won’t be buying them until February, it is nice to finally have it all picked out. So here is what we are doing this year. For both of the kids we are sticking with Mystery of History Volume II and their respective Teaching Textbooks. They’ll both be doing Apologia science, though Sarah will be doing General Science, and Paulie Zoology II. For English, for Sarah, she’ll be continuing with parts of CQLA, Character Quality Language Arts, we’ll be dropping the…
