• Fire pit

Do you have a fire pit where you live?  I didn’t grow up with one or even had any when we lived in Illinois, but out here in Idaho, having camp type fires at home are very normal.  When we lived more out in the country lots of time we just used a burn barrel, but then when we moved into a more town setting, we bought ourselves a fire pit. We didn’t put much thought into it, we just wanted one and bought one.  It was ok, and we used it a lot!  But it wasn’t the best pit out there by any means.  The biggest issue was that…

  • Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ 3/29

FOR Sunday March 29th Outside my window…Blue, clear skies with a slight breeze.  Much better than yesterday when we were in a dust storm warning.  Yes, this time of year we get real bad winds, between 30 – 50 mph, but we also have a lot of farms that have been recently plowed.  When that happens, we get dust storm warnings and possible road closures.  We never open our windows on days like that. I am thinking…About my blog posts I want to write for the week, what photos I want to share and what I should make for dinner tonight. I am thankful…For friends.  We finally made it…

  • Fun things in the mail

Last week was a fun mail week!  First, I received my copy of The Old Schoolhouse magazine.  I’m always so excited to get this big print magazine.  I love reading the bi-monthly digital issues too, but there is always something fun about get the paper magazine in the mail. The other exciting thing that I received this week was my new table!  I had found this table that I really wanted at Amazon about 2 weeks ago.  I put it in my cart to buy it, but by the time I got around to finishing the transaction the price had jumped $43.  I wasn’t about to pay $43 more for…

  • Birthdays, baking and spring break

Today is the start of our spring break, and we are all quite excited! 😀 Paul doesn’t have the week off, but the kids do and that means I don’t have any grading to do all week. After this, we’ll only have 6 weeks left of school. I find that so hard to believe, but I know we need this break. We were all getting a bit stressed and just needed a break. We don’t have anything planned, which is fine, relaxing is all I want to do. Tomorrow, Sunday, is Paulie’s 16th birthday!! We plan on going to church, then take him out for a birthday lunch. After that…

  • Life keeps going

That’s about how I feel right now, life just keeps going. We have had a busy couple of days, with snow storms dropping over 8 inches of snow on us, work, school, doctor appointments and allergy tests. I’m thankful that Paul has the day off tomorrow, Thursday. It will give us all a day to relax and rest up. Sarah had her allergy patch test this week, and it really didn’t show too much yet. There is some irritation but no major break out or anything. So far the things she showed some irritation to were things we already knew, fragrances and such in shampoo’s and lotions. We’ll see if…
