• End of Homeschooling

End of homeschooling equals the beginning of learning.  That’s what I’ve been thinking lately, that the end of our homeschool journey has been the beginning of my learning journey.  I’ve always enjoyed learning new things, though I didn’t really like school.  Once I graduated my desire for learning grew, and I wanted to take some college courses.  The change was, I wasn’t being forced to go to school and learn things that really didn’t interest me.  With college courses, I got to pick what I wanted to learn, and it was my choice to go.  I didn’t go for a 4 year degree, but did take courses for what I…

  • Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ 9/29

FOR September 25 Outside my window…It’s dark out, so the curtains are closed. I am thinking…I hadn’t done one of these in a while, so why not do one? I am thankful…That I am feeling better and healing well.  After my surgery and recovery I was still feeling a bit run down and I was still low on iron.  At times it felt like it would take forever before I would have more energy.  Then a week or so ago I was walking and I felt like I had normal energy.  😀  I continue to feel better day by day, and I continue to take my iron pills.  I…

  • Sabotaged by Dani Pettrey

I was given the great opportunity to get an early edition of Sabotaged by Dani Pettrey to read and tell my thoughts on it.  And I am so glad I did. I’ve enjoyed this series, Alaskan Courage, by Dani Pettrey from the beginning and was just waiting for this last book to come out.  As usual she starts off the book with a bang, and just keeps it going.  I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This book focuses mainly on Reef McKenna’s story as the last of the McKenna siblings.  I think Dani does a great job of not only telling his story,…

  • Summer reading is done

But now I’m on to winter reading.  🙂 Our library has a great reading program every year.  They have a children’s reading program and an adult reading program. For the adult program, for every book you read you would get a book ticket, and every week you visited the library you got a weekly ticket. Each week the book tickets were drawn for a weekly prize, like books, dvds, t-shirts etc…  Then if you won the weekly ticket drawing you won a gift certificate to a local restaurant.  Out of the 10 weeks of the program I won a book and a t-shirt!  I really wanted to win the gift…

  • It’s been hot lately

Yes, I know, terrible title, but honestly, I just couldn’t come up with a fun one.  🙂  But that statement is true, it has been hot lately.  Then we got a couple of cooler days, and today was a scorcher again.  But we are in our cooling off pattern now.  Where before we had weeks of mid to high 90’s with the occasional 80’s thrown in, we are now in the pattern of 80’s with and occasional 90 thrown in.  But it’s still beautiful weather, and I do enjoy the 80’s.  Warm enough to do fun things outside, but not so warm you need the a/c.  🙂 The kids and…
