• Thanksgiving 2016

    We had a great Thanksgiving this year.  I cooked the turkey and baked pumpkin pie on Wednesday.  Sarah baked apple crisp at her house, then came over and spent the night Wednesday night.  We all got up Thursday morning and watched the parade.  It’s one of our most favorite Thanksgiving traditions.  We also had some baked oatmeal for breakfast and just enjoyed lounging around together. By early afternoon Paul and I had the dressing put together, Sarah and I had mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes ready to serve, and the turkey had warmed up nicely in the oven.  All the food was great, and we enjoyed our time together, taking…

  • Snow on the mountains

    We had a vacation a couple of weeks ago.  It was a staycation mostly, but we did take a few days and go out to see my family.  My sister has a guest suite of sorts.  It’s a nice, big bedroom, with it’s own bathroom, a very comfortable bed, a couple of chairs and satellite TV (something we don’t have).  Plus we had free use of her living room every night and kitchen during the day.  We got to see family and enjoy some great time with them.  Carrie was sweet and tested about 3 different cookie recipes using GF flour, and they were all so good.   • Weekend fun

    Paul and I don’t always have a lot of money for weekend getaways, but thankfully we don’t always need it.  My parents live just over an hour away, where we used to live.  That area is a beautiful, mountainous area that we love to visit.  We stay at my parents house, which is not only free, but gives us time with my parents.  It’s a win win situation.
