Doctor visit

Well I finally went to the doctor on Monday.  This past weekend was so hard that I almost went to the Urgent Care facility by us.  But they had messed up a prescription for me when I went years ago, so I didn’t really want to go.  Plus I like having all my medical records in one place.  I made it through until Monday, and thought I would try and go a day without over the counter medication, and if I couldn’t make it through Monday, I would go to the doctor on Tuesday.  By 11:30am Monday morning my hubby was insisting I call the doctor’s office to get in on Monday.  Thankfully not only could I get in on Monday afternoon, but I actually got to see my own doctor not an assistant.  That is such a blessing.  All that being said, I have acute sinusitis and believe me, it hurts.  I haven’t slept a full nights sleep in over a week, and I am wearing down greatly.  Because of my sinus’ draining, I’m constantly coughing, so it’s hard to sleep.  My doctor gave me a script for cough syrup with codeine so I could have a good nights sleep.  I was hesitant to take it, because prescription strength 800mg Ibuprofen can knock me out.  I’m just not a medicine girl.  But I am desperate for a full nights sleep, so I took the smallest dose the doctor told me I could take and laid down last night ready for the first full night of sleep I’ve had in a long time.  Wouldn’t you know I’m probably one of the only people that doesn’t get knocked out on cough syrup with codeine!  Ugh.  It was 2am and I was still wide awake.  The cough syrup had an antihistamine in it and they usually make me jittery, which is how I was last night.  So still in major pain (now in my ear where things had drained from the beginning antibiotic) I took some tylenol and slept for about 2-3 hours.  But by then my coughing started again so a full nights sleep was lost again.  I really was so bummed.

My doctor called in a new script for me for a cough suppressant pill to try.  I’ve never heard of a cough suppressant pill, but truthfully my body is so exhausted I will try it.  I need to get more than 4 hours of sleep at one time, or a quick 30 minute nap.  My body needs to sleep and not get woken up by coughing every 5 minutes.  I am thankful that right now, around 3 on Tuesday afternoon I’m feeling the best I’ve felt in over a week.  Not that I’m 100% or anything and I’m still coughing like crazy but for the first time in days I don’t have any pain in my sinus’, and for that I am blessed beyond belief.  I’m also very tired feeling.  I think I’ll finish this post and lay down for a bit.  It’s also been the first time I could spend this much time online, staring at a computer screen.  But I don’t want to push myself, and as much as I want to do more I need to rest.  I’ve never had to rest so much in my life, but truly I can tell how much my body needs it.  I have the old Star Wars movies on, something we always watch when we are sick and can’t do much else.  I have water next to me, and some cough drops.  Think I’ll try and lay down a bit and get some rest.

Oh, but I do need to know, my friends on Google Connect, can you tell me if you are getting updates when I put new posts out there.  I have one friend who ways she’s not getting notified of my new posts.  But I’m not quite sure what else I need to update with Google to get it to work right.  So I need to know if others are having problems too so I can look into it more.  So if you got to this post through your google feeds, please let me know, so I know things are working.  Thanks.

  1. I cannot take any antihistamines. They keep me wired and up for hours. Its a real bummer! Glad you were able to go to the doctor and get some antibiotics. Feel better!

  2. I hope you get better soon. Being sick and miserable is no fun at all. May you stay healthy the rest of the winter!

  3. Oh, I had a cold like that in the spring of 2007. Yes, it was so awful that I remember the date! I do hope you’ll soon feel better! And then take at least a week to rest and recover. You want to be completely healthy before the winter begins.

Do you like bruschetta? With the tomato and the garlic, it’s supposed to be great for colds. Actually, when I’m sick, I’ll chop up 4 cloves of garlic and swallow them raw; it’s an anti-viral as well as antibiotic, with only one side-effect: the smell. If I feed my family bruschetta, they don’t notice it, though. LOL
