My plants are growing!

I’ve never had plants around the house, though I’ve always tried.  I definitely don’t have a green thumb, and I’ve never been able to keep any plants alive.  But last year I read about how good they are to have in the house, and I really wanted to get some and try not to kill them.  🙂

I found that spider plants and aloe plants were ‘supposed’ to be easy to grow and they were very pretty looking.  I was on the hunt.  I looked at a lot of different nursery’s and stores, and couldn’t find them.  Finally, Paul and I found them at a local store, well we at least found the spider plant.  We couldn’t find the aloe plants, but Paul did find a peace lily plant he wanted to get.

We picked up the plants and some pretty pots to put them in and brought them home.  I re-potted them, and we put them around the house.  Within a couple of days, my mom gave us some aloe plants she got from a friend, so I re-potted those too.

That was all last fall.  I’ve been waiting to see if I would kill them.  🙂  One of the things I learned was not to water them too much.  That most people kill their plants by watering them too much, not too little.  So I’ve been very careful with how much I water them.  After about 6 months, I’m proud to say they are not only all still alive, but thriving!  Of course I did try to grow some herbs during this time too, and those lasted about a month. 🙁  Oh well, at least my plants are still around.  What do you think?

  1. So pretty! I don’t have a green thumb myself, so I’ve gone to pretty much all artificial 🙁 It does make for easy upkeep and ability to travel without killing them.

  2. Somehow I missed this post! I was stopping by to see if you are doing OK. It has been quiet over here. 🙂 I love your plants! Keep trying the herbs. I love fresh herbs. Mine are outside for the summer.
