• Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ 8/16

FOR Sunday August 16   Outside my window…It would be blue skies, but it’s more like smokey blue skies.  We have fires all around us here in Idaho.  Nothing close enough to cause us any problems but the smoke is now coming around us.  And the smoke really bothers my allergies.  Yesterday, though it was a beautiful day, I had to have the windows closed and the A/C on to keep the smoke out.  Today, the smoke isn’t as intense, so that’s nice.  I can leave my windows open.   I am thinking…That I can’t believe it’s time to start up school again already.  Paulie starts this week.  And…

  • Are you creative?

I read an article last week about adults who color and how good it is for us.  Yes, as in using a coloring book.  The article suggested that it is not only a way to be creative and use our imaginations, but it helps with our stress levels too.  I can totally agree with that statement, because I do love to color.  I have adult versions of a color by number, I’m on the second out of four pictures on that one.  And I have a straight coloring book for adults, though I want to get more.  This is the page I just finished coloring. Now personally I prefer using…

  • A very crafty week ahead

Yep, that’s what I have come up, a very crafty week.  My mom, sister and I are going to a scrapbooking conference this weekend.  Though we like scrapbooking, it’s not one of our favorite crafts.  But this conference has classes for other crafts besides just scrapbooking.  But mainly it’s a time for us three to get together for a weekend of fun.  We’ll be staying at the hotel where the conference is, learning some new crafts, having 2 whole days of crafting and of course, lots of eating.  🙂 We’ll be meeting for lunch on Thursday, then driving the hour drive to the town the conference is in.  Then we’ll…

  • My shawl

I finally finished the shawl I was working on.  It’s a triangle shawl, which is what I really wanted, and I like it a lot but I think I want to make a simple wrap next.  Long, rectangular wrap.  I just have to see what kind of yarn and pattern I can find. But here is this shawl.  I thought I had enough yarn for the project when I started it, it was yarn I had in my stash, but it turned out it wasn’t enough.  I found the same yarn I needed, but of course it was a different lot number, so the color is a bit off.  But…

  • Fun gift card buys

My family always knows how to spoil me for birthday’s, holidays etc…  At least once or twice a year they get me a good sized JoAnn’s gift card.  And I can usually hold on to that card for a while before I spend all that’s on it.  🙂 Well, last week I decided to spend just about the rest of the card I had.  I only have about $3 left now, but I did get some great stuff. I got more yarn to finish my shawl.  Plus 3 books that really looks like they have some fun patterns in them.  I did finally finish my shawl, that will be in…
