Vacation week :)

Yes, we are on our fall vacation week.  Paul has off until the 26th, so no work for him or school for Paulie and I.  And I will have a very limited work week.  So far we are having great weather, so that is nice.  It will be a staycation for us, we’ve traveled enough this year, but we have some fun things planned.  We are having a big turkey dinner on Tuesday, just because, and to try some new recipes before Thanksgiving. Family photos will be taken on Wednesday.  Meeting some friends for dinner on Friday.  Hopefully a night or two of using the fire pit.  And we might even make it to a corn maze this week.  But mostly we’ll just be enjoying our time together and not having to rush about on a strict schedule.

This past weekend was our monthly craft weekend and this month it was at my house.  We had such a great time.  My mom came and she taught me a new crocheting method called Tunisian Crochet.  I haven’t quite decided yet if I like it or not, but we had a blast her teaching me.  Then I taught her and my friend how to continental knit.  I’m still learning it myself, and I’m not sure if I like the look of the stitch, but I’m going to keep going until I know the purl too.  It was a great day overall.

I hope to get some more practice in on both of those crafts this week.  I’ve found some more audio books I would like to listen to, so that should keep me busy.  But I’ll be keeping busy with my family too, so we’ll see.

This is our 3rd or 4th year taking a fall vacation and we really enjoy it.  How about you?  Any of you out there take fall vacations from school?

  1. Glad your vacation is going to be good. Wish we could be part of it but not possible right now. Sure pray we all get together Thanksgiving. It was such fun being with you and your friends Saturday. Haven’t tried the continental stitch yet but will today. Love

  2. I switched to Continental style knitting a few years ago and it took me a while to get the purl stitch to where it was comfortable. Now I prefer this method

  3. We usually take a Fall vacation, but this year we took it at the end of summer, over Labour Day. I have yet to see how we cope with the winter and being home for 6-7 months without a break. So far this Fall has been so busy, I’m not sure we could take a break if we wanted to.

  4. Hi, JoAnn. I guess we are taking a fall break of sorts. The two little ones are officially unenrolled from school, I had surgery today, and we will fly to Illinois to live there permanentally on Friday.
