52 Weeks of Photo Fun – Week 43

I’ve lost track of how many weeks I’ve actually done my 52 Weeks of Photo Fun, so I just counted this one as week 43 since this is the 43 week of the year. ;)

My new thing, listening to audio books while doing crafts. I got this bunch from the library, wasn’t sure which one I wanted, so I got all of them. :)

I put a cd player by the couch so I can listen to audio books and crochet at the same time.

My crochet projects

Well, it’s that time of year again when I really want to start crocheting.  It seems with the change of season, curling up with a cup of tea, crocheting and having football on (yes, I like football) is what I really want to do.  I will say, even though Friday was the first day of Autumn, we have been experiencing summer like weather, so it doesn’t feel real fallish during the day.  But our nights get quite cool so I still feel like pulling out all my crafts and start working on them more.  :)

I do like cross stitching too, and I have a project I am working on, but I’ve also started a couple of fall projects.  My mom bought me a book last year called 101 Fun to Crochet Projects.  It has some cute things in there and one of them that I am doing is called a pretzel magnet.  It’s a cute thing to make, and real easy.  I haven’t added the ‘salt’ yet, but this is my finished pretzel so far.  I think I might make a few of these to give as a gift topper or something like that.

Also in that book is a pattern for a Cornucopia Centerpiece.  It’s really the reason that I got the book.  I never tried to make it last year, but I’m going to try this year.  My mom and I went yarn shopping on Friday and now I have all the yarn I need to make it.  I’m little nervous about trying to make the actual cornucopia.  The fruit and veggies don’t look that hard, but the cornucopia looks a little intimidating.  So I’m going to start on the fruit and vegetables first.  That way if I start getting discouraged with the cornucopia, I can remind myself I already have the fruit and veggies done and need a place to put them.  :D

It’s not the best picture, but this is what it will look like when it’s done.

So those are the crochet projects I’m working on right now.  I hope to be able to show some pictures of the fruit as I get some done.  But right now I’m enjoying the pretzels, so I will probably make more of them first.

I’m back and I’m finished

Well, I was really hoping to blog more on here, but we went away for a few days.  When I’m on vacation, though I have my laptop, I usually don’t get much blogging done.  But I did get my cross-stitch project done!!!  I’m so excited that it’s finally finished.  What do you think?

I realized after I picked this picture it has a bit of a glare on it, but it really shows the detail of the work I did.  I did enjoy working on it, and my son immediately put it in his room when we got home from vacation.

I’m got a few new projects I’m starting.  I’ve have a cross stitch for Sarah I’m gonna make, but first she wants me to crochet her a new head band.  I searched and searched, and showed Sarah some different headbands and we finally found a pattern we liked.  I just have to get it started.  I’m also working on crocheting some coasters and dish cloths.  I like to work on things that work up quickly, makes me feel like I’m actually finishing things.

Homeschool groups

I’ve doing crafts more than I’ve been writing this past week.  I’m working on a dolphin cross stitch pattern from my son.  I’ll probably write about it once I get it finished, with pictures of course.  I think I’ll be writing a bit more about the crafts I do in the future, since its a big part of what I like to do.  But in the midst of my crafting time I did write a new hub article on homeschool groups.  We really like our local homeschool group and how they run things, and I wanted to share some ideas in case someone wants to start their own.
