Crocheting, babies and pictures

I finally finished the neck roll I made for Paul. What is a ‘neck roll’? It’s something I made up. :D His physical therapist told him to roll up a towel to put inside his pillow case for neck support while he sleeps. The towels were just too hard when rolled up, so I crocheted him his own neck roll. I might have to add one more skein of yarn, but so far he really likes it. I like the yarn he picked out for it.

We also went to see my nephews new baby girl this week. Her name is Alyssa Faye, and she is a cutie. I’ll be posting more photos I took on my 365 post on Sunday, but I wanted to share a couple right now.

Now that I’m done with Paul’s neck roll, I’m a bit at a loss of what I want to do next. I’m working on some embroidery that I always have waiting for me to work on, but I just can’t decide if that’s what I want to do. I feel like I want to start another project, but I just don’t know which one yet. Once I have it figured out, I’ll be sure to let you know. ;)

Sorry!!!!

Hey everyone, so sorry if your reader and/or email just got inundated with tons of old emails from my blog. I was changing around a few things on my site and it resent out most of my old posts on here. I didn’t realize it was going to do that. So I apologize for clogging up your readers and emails and I’ll try and make sure I don’t do that again. :)

Never ending spam

Well, it has finally happened, I am getting attacked by spam. I knew when I set up this site the occasional spam I was getting wouldn’t last long. Eventually my site would be hit by the spam-bot spammers, and today is that day. I’ve gotten more spam this morning that I have all year. Thankfully, none of it actually goes to my site, but getting those emails is a bit annoying. I don’t like CAPTCHA, never have, so I’m trying a new spam blocker. You will notice when you leave a comment you have to copy and paste the ‘password’ that is given. I have tested it, and it seems to work fine. I think it’s a lot easier than CAPTCHA, since you can just highlight it, copy it and paste it. You don’t have to try and ‘see’ anything or type anything. Let me know what you think of it. Is it too intrusive? Is it not working for you? Is it making my site slower? Have you left comments before and now after you leave a comment you are not seeing your comment? I have a feature turned on that if I’ve approved your comment before, your comment should be automatically activated and you should see it instantly. If that has happened in the past, but is not happening now, please let me know. As we all know, spam is on ongoing issue and I don’t want anyone to be turned away from my site because of a spam blocker I have on. So please let me know your thoughts and experiences. Thanks.

RSS Feeds

When I moved my blog from blogger to my own hosting website I had decided to bring my google connect friends badge over here. But truthfully it wasn’t easy to do, and I still don’t think I have it working right. Plus, truthfully, one of the reasons I left blogger is I just don’t like google. With all that being said, I am going to discontinue using the google friends connect widget. So if you are currently using that connection to my site as your RSS feed could you please update your reader to my non google connect feed. You can click on the RSS icon on my side bar or click on the icon below and add my feed to your reader. You can follow just this blog, My Creativity Blog or you can follow this blog and my other blog JoAnn’s Journey also. Either way, I am sorry about the inconvenience, but I do hope you still plan on following my blog(s). :)

My crochet projects

Well, it’s that time of year again when I really want to start crocheting.  It seems with the change of season, curling up with a cup of tea, crocheting and having football on (yes, I like football) is what I really want to do.  I will say, even though Friday was the first day of Autumn, we have been experiencing summer like weather, so it doesn’t feel real fallish during the day.  But our nights get quite cool so I still feel like pulling out all my crafts and start working on them more.  :)

I do like cross stitching too, and I have a project I am working on, but I’ve also started a couple of fall projects.  My mom bought me a book last year called 101 Fun to Crochet Projects.  It has some cute things in there and one of them that I am doing is called a pretzel magnet.  It’s a cute thing to make, and real easy.  I haven’t added the ‘salt’ yet, but this is my finished pretzel so far.  I think I might make a few of these to give as a gift topper or something like that.

Also in that book is a pattern for a Cornucopia Centerpiece.  It’s really the reason that I got the book.  I never tried to make it last year, but I’m going to try this year.  My mom and I went yarn shopping on Friday and now I have all the yarn I need to make it.  I’m little nervous about trying to make the actual cornucopia.  The fruit and veggies don’t look that hard, but the cornucopia looks a little intimidating.  So I’m going to start on the fruit and vegetables first.  That way if I start getting discouraged with the cornucopia, I can remind myself I already have the fruit and veggies done and need a place to put them.  :D

It’s not the best picture, but this is what it will look like when it’s done.

So those are the crochet projects I’m working on right now.  I hope to be able to show some pictures of the fruit as I get some done.  But right now I’m enjoying the pretzels, so I will probably make more of them first.

Welcome to my new blog

This is a new blog for me, but I am not new to the blogging world.  I started blogging about 5 years ago, and though I started on a different blogging platform I’ve been using Blogger for about 3 years.  My other blog is more of a personal blog, and I plan on having this blog focus more on articles I write, showcasing things I’ve made and any other adventures I choose to share.  I will still use my love of photography here I’m sure, and I hope to share other things I’ve learned.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is JoAnn.  I am a woman who loves the Lord with all her heart.  I’m not perfect in my walk with Him, but He is perfect, and that’s all that matters.  I’ve been married to the love of my life, Paul, for almost 17 years.  We have two beautiful children, Sarah – 15 and Paulie – 13, and we have been homeschooling for 9 years, and plan on continuing as long as the Lord leads us to.

I hope you continue to follow me on this new adventure I’m taking.  Feel free to add me to your blog readers, and if you have any questions, or just want to say hi, you can  email me.  I would love to hear from you.
