Crocheting, babies and pictures

I finally finished the neck roll I made for Paul. What is a ‘neck roll’? It’s something I made up. :D His physical therapist told him to roll up a towel to put inside his pillow case for neck support while he sleeps. The towels were just too hard when rolled up, so I crocheted him his own neck roll. I might have to add one more skein of yarn, but so far he really likes it. I like the yarn he picked out for it.

We also went to see my nephews new baby girl this week. Her name is Alyssa Faye, and she is a cutie. I’ll be posting more photos I took on my 365 post on Sunday, but I wanted to share a couple right now.

Now that I’m done with Paul’s neck roll, I’m a bit at a loss of what I want to do next. I’m working on some embroidery that I always have waiting for me to work on, but I just can’t decide if that’s what I want to do. I feel like I want to start another project, but I just don’t know which one yet. Once I have it figured out, I’ll be sure to let you know. ;)

We went to our local museum which had an exhibit of dinosaur replicas, they even had the replica of the T-Rex Sue. Plus it taught about paleontologists, what they do, how they do it, things they use etc… It was really great because Sarah has always had an interest in paleontology, fossils etc… Usually our museum doesn’t allow us to take photos of exhibits, so I didn’t bring in my DSLR. But it turns out they did allow it with this exhibit. So all I had on me was cell phone camera. :( The pictures aren’t the best, I really am not that good with taking photos with it. But at least I got some photos. The next exhibit is of King Tut, I’m hoping they allow cameras with that one too. That’s the one I’m really looking forward to. :)

Sorry!!!!

Hey everyone, so sorry if your reader and/or email just got inundated with tons of old emails from my blog. I was changing around a few things on my site and it resent out most of my old posts on here. I didn’t realize it was going to do that. So I apologize for clogging up your readers and emails and I’ll try and make sure I don’t do that again. :)

We have a gas fireplace with fake wood. I really like it, and it warms the house nicely. Though at times I do miss an actual fire place. I am trying to find creative things to take pictures of, and the fire caught my eye the other day. I tried taking some different shots of the fire. Paul and I especially liked the blue flame.

I finished my small yarn bag. I made it with a variegated yarn. I like the colors and think it came out cute.

We also got our curriculum for next year. I like having it all picked out and ordered before fall, less stress.

365 Photo Creations ~ 50-56

I know I am so late with my photo post. It’s been an interesting week, broken washers, doctors appointments, work, new laptop and more. But I did get a chance to take some photos while all these things were going on. They are not exciting photos, but I have made a commitment to keep up with challenge, even if my photos are not that good. I am doing this project to remind me to pick up my camera, even if the photos aren’t that exciting or fun. I hope you enjoy them anyway. :)

On Sunday as I was cleaning and trying to get 5 loads of laundry done my washer finally died. We have known for months that the washer was going out, but we were hoping that it would last a little longer. I’m thankful that my friend allowed me to use her washer so I could get the loads done. We were also blessed with the ability to buy a new washer (we usually don’t get new ones). :)

I forgot to take a picture of the old washer, but here’s where it was.

Hubby did great getting it in the house and to the laundry room.

My pretty new washer. :D

Something else new. The kids school laptop broke a couple of weeks ago. We were making do with our desktop, but we knew we needed to get them a new one. Again, we were blessed with the ability to get them a new (though not a fancy) laptop.

Yes, they are excited.

Working on getting it all set up.

Yep, Sarah was the first one to use it. :D

365 Photo Creations ~ 36-42

I’ve had another busy craft week, so most of my photos are of crafts. But I’ve also included what hubby got me for Valentines day. :)

I’ve been working on these quilt blocks off and on for a while now. I need to embroider them all first, then I’ll put them together for a quilt.
DSC_0543

It’s all back stitches.
DSC_0544

Plus it’s pre-marked, so it’s really easy.
DSC_0546

I’m also crocheting a back scrubber.
DSC_0547

My mom showed me the pattern, it’s really easy.
DSC_0550

Plus I received my pre-cut quilt blocks. I can’t wait to work on this soon.

Hubby surprised me with 12 long stem roses and a box of chocolates.

This week went by like a flash, and we were at a Super Bowl party last night, so I didn’t get this posted yesterday. Sarah went on a Purity Retreat for teenage girls this weekend, which is the focus of most of these pictures. This is her second year, and she absolutely loves it. She’s even considering becoming a counselor in a couple of years when she’s too old to go. :)

Packed and ready to go, got have a shot with mom first. ;)
DSC_0491

Paulie loves to have shots taken with him and his sister all the time. I enjoy seeing their love for each other.
DSC_0492

I started taking hand held photos like this with a girlfriend of mine I grew up with. Over the years, Sarah and I have been doing it. I will admit, it’s a lot easier to take with a point and shoot than a DSLR. Plus I forgot to check how close the lens was set before I took it, but it was still fun.
DSC_0486

Paulie and I decided to take one after Sarah left and it was just him and me, and yes, I think I have the lens set even closer. lol
DSC_0508

And this is the group photo before they left. Yes, I know covering their faces sort of ruins the photo, but I have a strict rule of not putting children’s pictures on my blog without asking for permission first, and I never asked. But I love the smile on Sarah’s face.
DSC_0499

This is one of my closest friends, that I’ve know since practically moving to this town over 4 years ago. She is a photographer, and she took me on my first photo shoot when we were on a homeschool mom’s retreat. We’ve been wanting to get a photo of us together for months, we finally remembered last night at her Super Bowl Party.
DSC_0522

And this is my new work area. I’m so excited to have a space just for my things, and I’ve decided to clean off the table even more, and bring my sewing machine out of the closet, so this will become a work/craft area. There’s a couple more things I have to move around before I can do that, but I can’t wait.
DSC_0468

I’m done!!

Yep, I’m finally done with my crocheted yarn bag. It was so much fun to make, and really so very easy. I’m still learning how to neatly crochet in the round, and the connecting part looks pretty messy. Plus it’s a bigger than I was thinking it would be, but it’s perfect for fitting lots of different skeins of yarn in it. So what do you think?

DSC_0511

I thought the scalloped edges look nice. I attached the straps on the inside instead of the outside. I still want to add some small flowers on the outside, and I hope to do it soon. Ok, so who’s kidding who, I probably won’t do any more work on this bag because I’ll be busy with other projects. :D But I still like it.
DSC_0510

This is what I’ve been carrying my yarn in. :(
DSC_0512

I like it in my new bag a lot better. :)
DSC_0514

I’ve also started a new bag. I’m making this one a little different. I’m using half double crochets instead of double crochet, and I’m using the same colors for two rows instead of one row. As much as I like my big yarn bag, I don’t always need to carry around that much yarn. So I’m making this new one smaller, for when I’m working on simple projects with just one or two skeins of yarn.

What do you think?
DSC_0518

It’s a lot neater and I’m finishing the rows a lot better.
DSC_0519

Even though I’m crocheting a lot neater with the half double crochet, it’s starting to ripple a bit. Maybe I’m crocheting too tight, not sure. But I think it will still work fine. I’ve been having some free time to listen to my audio books and crochet, which is nice, getting these done. The only issue is I’m starting to feel it in my elbow, think I need to take more breaks. ;)

I’ll probably make one more small bag after this. I think Sarah would like one for her yarn, so I will make her one. Then I can’t decide if I’ll stick with crocheting or switch over to some embroidery. I still need to finish that one cross stitch project I was working on, but I might try my hand at some doodle stitching instead, we’ll see.

Well, I’m off to work on my bag. It’s been a long day, and relaxing with some crocheting will be nice. :)
