Oh my goodness, we had so much fun today. My sister called me during this past week to tell me Edgar Hanson from the Northwestern, one of the boats from the show Deadliest Catch was going to be in a town only 25 minutes from us!! I don’t know how many of you know, but I am a HUGE Deadliest Catch fan. I was so bummed when Netflix took them off of instant streaming, and I’m now trying to figure out how to save up money so I can get all the seasons on DVD. Thankfully my sister, who is an even bigger fan, gets every season as a Christmas present, so I’ve been borrowing her DVD’s, a few at a time, so I can watch them. I can sit for hours doing a craft or working on my laptop watching episode after episode (like I am right now).
When she first called me during the week to tell me he was going to be here, I was a little worried. I was still feeling horrible and I was afraid I wouldn’t be up to the drive and waiting and such. Well yesterday, Friday, was my first day out and about and I did great. I even slept through the night with no medication. Today I am a bit tired, but there was no way I was going to miss the chance to meet someone from the Deadliest Catch show. And I have to say, this is when I love small towns. I left my house at 1:00 and was back by 3:00. That 2 hours included driving time, waiting in line to meet Edgar, getting pictures taken and autographs, taking pictures of my sister niece & nephew and driving home. The line was long, but coming from Chicago Illinois, I know comparatively it was pretty short. And it moved quickly.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to use my Nikon camera or not and at first left the camera in my car, opting for my point and shoot. I didn’t know if there was going to be any restrictions with what types of photos could be taken. But once I was there I realized there were no restrictions, and others had their Nikons too, so I asked my nephew to get mine for me. Which actually made my family happy because they wanted some good pics. It was so fun, Edgar was so nice and I have to say, he was exactly like he seems on tv. I am so glad we went and if any other Deadliest Catch stars come this way, you know I’ll be heading out to meet them too.
So here I am talking with him as he is autographing cards for the kids and me.

Paul had to work, so it was just the kids and me, though we did meet up with my sister and her kids too.

Then after that picture Edgar says, “Ok, enough with the ladies, lets get a picture with just the guys.” I thought that was great.
