Fit Mommy Friday

This week has been a good week for me. After getting the doctor’s ok to exercise and move around more, I’ve felt a whole lot better, since I wasn’t always worried about feeling tired, it has helped a lot. I haven’t made it outside for walks like I would like, we have now gotten our winter, with snow the past couple of days. ;) I’m feeling pretty good after being off the supplements, though there has been no drastic changes in how I feel. Of course I’ve only been off them for 4 days. ;)

My goals:

Eat more vegetables:

YES! I’ve actually had broccoli a couple of days straight plus I plan on getting some cauliflower soon and trying this yummy recipe.

Watch my portion sizes:

Yes I have. This week has not been as hard as it normally is, not sure why. But my portion sizes have been a bit smaller, I hope I can keep that up.

Do T-Tapp every other day:

I’ve done it every day for four days, and now I’ll take a break this weekend.

Do T-Tapp Hoe Downs every day:

No, just with the actually T-Tapp workout, but no extra ones.

Watch my sugar intake for my IBS:

Yes, we don’t have any more chocolate around the house, so that has been cut down dramatically.

Remember to drink water throughout the day:

YES! I got a great tip from AnnieKate last week about what her MIL does to remember drinking water. I went and got a 64oz. container that I fill up with water, just for me, I put it in my fridge and that’s all I drink out of during the day. It’s not a water bottle, it’s a pitcher that I use to fill up glasses when I’m drinking. I know some people like the big water bottles, but they’ve never worked for me. This really helps me keep track of my water intake and it even has made me remember I need to drink more water. I’ve done pretty good the past few days of drinking most of the 64oz. I get my last glass in the evening the fill it up again so the next morning it’s waiting for me to use. It has been one of the best tips ever. Thanks AnnieKate.

Don’t push myself to exhaustion:

Nope, not at all. I’ve been moving more and exercising but not too exhaustion.

Fit Mommy Friday

I almost forgot about a Fit Mommy Friday post. I’m finding with work, I have to be more purposeful when I want to get things done online. I use to have enough time to just play around and hang out online, doing this and that and eventually getting posts done. No more of that, I must have a purpose when I’m online.

I also need to be purposeful in keeping my body moving and healthy. I am still doing ok with my portion sizes, though I did go out to Sizzler last night with hubby and got the salad bar with my steak. :( Let’s just say, I should learn not to do that. ;)

I’ve been doing some Wii Fit Plus workout, and I’m not feeling exhausted afterward. That has been a huge plus, very huge. I do wish I could walk outside, but I prefer to do my workouts in the morning, because I work in the afternoon. And truthfully, even before working, I just prefer to get them done in the morning. I’m less likely to talk myself out of it. But with our mornings dark and only in the teens and sometimes zero, walking outside is just not something I want to do. Even if I had clothes that are made for outdoor, cold weather, that is just plain cold, there is no way around it. I don’t mind shopping and such during the day in that weather. The sun is out by then, and it’s not too bad. But in the morning, when the sun isn’t out at all or barely out, it’s just a tad too cold for this girl. So I’ve been doing the Wii Fit Plus.

But today I was so excited, I saw the UPS truck turning around in our driveway (we live on a dead end street) and right as I was asking if he was stopping in front of our house I heard a knock on the door! Who doesn’t enjoy the UPS man stopping at their house? What did he deliver? My T-Tapp DVD!! :D

I haven’t used it yet (just got it this afternoon), but I can’t wait to try it. I know when I tried the basic version, I really did like it. And the little time I used it I was feeling better. But my pride really hates to admit I can’t do the basic workout, at least not right now. Though it’s never been real bad, I do deal with back issues and a month or so ago I pulled a hip muscle really bad (it still hurts at times). So I gave in and got the rehab version called MORE. But from what I hear it’s just as great of a workout, it teaches the moves much better than the main dvd (which to me doesn’t really teach the moves that well at all) and lots of people who do this workout do the MORE dvd more often than the other one. Can you see I’m trying to convince myself that it will be good for me? ;) Yes, I am a bit worried that it will be too easy, but that’s not what I’ve heard. And though I refuse to admit I need to use it because of extra candles on my cake (i.e. my age ;) ), I will use it for a rehab on my shoulder, back and hip. :D

Fit Mommy Friday

So how am I doing on this Fit Mommy Friday, well I’m doing much better. I still haven’t started my workouts (more on that in a minute), but I’m not feeling nearly as tired as I was feeling. I started doing some gentle walking in the afternoons last week, before the snow hit, and I’m still feeling good. I’ve also been cleaning and doing laundry without feeling overly tired. Only a couple of times was I truly exhausted after cleaning or laundry, but I would get run down a bit easy. But lately, I’ve been feeling just fine after doing the work.

I was suppose to go for my next blood test this last Monday, but I felt like I was starting to get a head cold. And though I am feeling better, I was a bit run down after the holidays. So I got in touch with my doctor and asked him if instead of testing one last time this month, if I could wait until the end of the year. He was fine with that. Truthfully, I just knew my numbers were probably on the low side, and I just didn’t want to see that again. :( I figure, give me another month to build up my workout schedule, and then take the test, when I’m feeling 100%.

Which leads me to my workout schedule. Those of you who have been reading my blog for a bit know how much I’ve been wanting to use T-Tapp, but that the DVD I’m borrowing just isn’t the right one for me. I wanted the one called MORE which they label as a rehab workout, and as much as I hate to admit it, with my back and hip, I do need that kind work out for now. But it’s normally $70 plus $8 shipping, and I just couldn’t see spending that much money for a workout DVD. Truthfully it’s about 5 or 6 workouts on the DVD, but still, it was money I didn’t have. So I gave up on it and just concentrated on resting and getting my body stronger. This month it went on sale, 20% off. Still, a bit high, but I was encouraged. I didn’t even think of checking the site on Cyber Monday, but on Tuesday they sent an email saying the Cyber Monday sale was extended for another day. That was good, because I didn’t get the original email announcing a Cyber Monday sale (maybe that’s why they extended it). Anyway the sale was for another 20% off (that’s 40% off total) and free shipping, bringing the price down to $45. Still a bit high, but I knew I wasn’t going to find it much cheaper than that. The only thing that bummed me out was I had spent some of the money I was going to use for it and I didn’t think I had that much left. I checked my account, and I had gotten another payment from someone buying things through my Amazon link on my home page! What a blessing that was. So I got on the phone and ordered it right away. Obviously I don’t have it yet, but I’m so thankful that I got it.

So my plan is to start working out with the DVD as soon as it gets here, but I also want to add some cardio workout to. I don’t want to do a full aerobic workout plus the T-Tapp, because truthfully some say that T-Tapp is a good cardio workout by itself. I would like to be able to go out for walks but not sure I will be able too. It gets pretty cold around here, and I don’t really have the clothing to wear when walking. This morning is was 18 and cloudy out. I would like to go get some clothes for running/walking in cold weather, not sure I could afford them right now. Not that I would be running, but a friend who runs says there’s this great type of clothing to wear out here in the cold to run/walk outside. I’ll have to check and see what they are. Since our mornings are pretty cold, unless I buy something warmer to wear, it’s just not an option right now.

I’ve also thought of bringing out my stationary bike. I had wrapped it up with plastic and stored it away in our garage. With my workout DVD’s I was doing, and my walking (and learning to run, though I never did get real far with that before I hurt my hip and got sick), I wasn’t using it much. It was taking up room in my bedroom, so we stored it away. But now I’m thinking of bringing out of storage and using it. The problem is where to put it, the spot where we had it is being used now. So I’ve been looking around the house, thinking about it. Until I decide, I will probably do some Wii Fit Plus workouts along with T-Tapp. I’m so glad that I have some different options. And truthfully the Wii Fit Plus workouts are pretty good for me. So on cold mornings like this, that’s what I’m going to do (right after I finish this post ;) ).

I did pretty good with my portion sizes over the holiday’s, not perfect, but ok. The times that I did overeat I realized, that though I ate more than my body was needing, I still ate a lot less compared to last year. I know it’s still something I need to work on, but I’m happy to see that comparatively I am doing better with it. I also noticed with my age and IBS-C I deal with, eating six smaller meals throughout the day does a lot better for me. It’s just such a hard habit to start. I’m so use to eating 3 meals a day, with desserts right after the meal. Even if I could just hold off on the dessert until a few hours later, I know it would help my body. Why is it I know what works well for my body, but just can’t seem to do that? Please tell me I’m not alone with this. ;) I’ve also been praying and asking the Lord to change my desires for what I want to eat. I don’t know why I’m shocked by His answering my prayers, but I actually think my desires are changing, just a little. I’m a meat and taters kind of gal, and there aren’t too many veggies I will eat. But lately I’ve had a craving for my homemade romaine lettuce and chicken salad. Nothing major, just some romaine lettuce, chicken or turkey chunks and a couple of other things. It’s a small salad, and nothing big, but for those who know me, for me to crave any kind of salad (other than a creamy potato or pasta salad) is shocking. ;) I’m not saying I’m craving veggies or anything like that (yet ;) ), but I’m blessed that I’m seeing little changes.
