I would appreciate it if you would share this post:
I’ve been busy lately with some web design projects, and actually the projects have kept me too busy. Sometimes I think that I say yes to web design things too quickly. 🙂 Those projects have kept me so busy that I haven’t had time to for my crafts like crocheting or photography. I decided yesterday that was going to stop, I was making time for both, regardless of what was on my schedule. So with that in mind, hubby and I headed out to buy me some new yarn for an afghan I want to crochet. I love it when he goes with me, he has such an eye for color. Here’s the yarn and what I want to make, what do you think?
I like shell patterns, but I’m still trying to decide if this is the exact pattern I want to do. There are such pretty patterns in this book, I might change my mind before I start. 😉 But I do have a question for you crocheters out there. The pattern calls for a size N (9.00mm) hook, which I have. But I tend to crochet tight, so I wanted to get the next size hook for the chain, then use the original N hook for the rest of the project. When we were out last night I was going to pick up a P (10.00mm) hook, but then I saw what was called an N15 (10.00mm) hook! What is that? There was also a M15 (9.00mm) hook, and it was a P15 (11.00mm) hook. I’m so confused now, what is with these new hooks with a 15 after it and a different size? Even the M15 that says it was a 9.00mm doesn’t even look the same size as my N 9.00mm. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I’m really interested in why they are different. But I did pick up the N15 10.00mm hook so I have a bigger size to start this pattern. It’s definitely cooler out, so I’m looking forward to curling up with a hot drink and working on my new afghan. Hope to have a picture of the progress soon.

Pretty color you and your husband chose. I’m wondering if the hooks were manufactured by different companies, hence the discrepancy? I’m a Boye girl, but it’s what you get used to and feel most comfortable with. The pattern is very pretty. If you aren’t sure on patterns, there is a great website that lists all sorts of free patterns https://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php. You’ll get lost looking through all the pretty things to make. Enjoy your new project. Heather
Whichever you chose, it will be beautiful!!!
I love that color JoAnn. My granddaughter Heather is just finishing a cartigan I asked her to make for me and it is pretty much that color.
I like that lacy afghan pattern. I like shells too they are pretty easy to work with and work up fast. I don’t know anything about hook sizes. I am just as confused as you are. But whatever you use and whatever pattern you choose it is going to be very pretty. You do such good work.
