New crochet project

A couple of days before Christmas, I wasn’t feeling too good and needed to rest. I was also done with all my crafting for Christmas gifts and was ready to start a new crochet project. I wanted something simple, that I wouldn’t have to think too much about (remember I was sick when I was picking this 😉 ). I decided to make an afghan, my first one, and found a simple shell pattern called the Easy Patterned Throw. I had some pretty burgundy yarn I had bought a couple of months ago that was just waiting for me to use in a new project. So I printed out the pattern, pulled out my yarn and started working on my first afghan. 😀

I had to chain 151 stiches, which I think may be the longest chain I’ve done. I was worried that it would get all twisted, but it turned out ok.

Though I really enjoy photography, I’m still learning how to stage photos to show off my projects. I love how my friend Heather shows off her crochet projects, but I have yet to learn how to take photos that well. I know taking them outside would give me better light, but it was snowing today and I took the picture at night. 😉 I will try to learn to stage my shots better, but at least you can see what I’m working on. It should be a fun winter project, and one I can enjoy doing while listening to a good audio book.

So what creative thing are you working on? Please share. 🙂

  1. Thank you JoAnn. You are very sweet. You take beautiful photos and I love the new afghan you are working on. It is a very pretty stitch and it looks like it will be nice a warm. I hope you are feeling better now. Enjoy your new project. This is the perfect time of year to make blankets. Take care, Heather

  2. That is a beautiful color and the stitch looks fun. And I imagine a warm and cozy afghan. I finished a knitted hat for my oldest daughter yesterday and am finishing a knitted dishcloth for a friend.

  3. What a pretty afghan that will be. I really like the stitch, it looks harder and more professional than what I’m use to seeing. And you take great photos! Also like your new cards below. I’m glad you won that new machine, how special!
