I would appreciate it if you would share this post:
Yep, that title just about covers it for me. I have been busy, but yet if I had to make a list of all I did, I don’t know if I could come up with one. Does that sound right? I will try to go over some highlights.
I don’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but I stepped up for the usher ministry at our church for Saturday evening services. Hubby is the Saturday night lead usher. I’ve really been wanting to reach out, and I felt this is what the Lord wanted me to do. So this past Saturday was my first time ushing, and it was a blast. It was also communion night, so I was a wee bit nervous about passing out the elements, but it all went fine. It feels good to be back to a weekly ministry at church, I didn’t realize how much I missed doing that.
Sunday, was of course, Super Bowl. We had friends over, great food, fun and fellowship. I think we are all hoarse from the screaming we did, and alas, my team lost. But I wouldn’t trade any of the fun we had.
Today I took the kids to the dentist for their normal cleanings. It was a new dentist, but his office is at the mall, so we were all looking forward to it. I was a bit nervous though, because Paulie has such sensory issues with his teeth, he doesn’t like them being cleaned and gags when they try to take x-rays. We got there early, the place was beautiful, and the people were extremely nice. The kids went back by themselves (which I wanted them to do), and the nurses said they did great. Well, Sarah did great, she even got a coupon for a free soft pretzel from the mall. Paulie didn’t get a coupon, he wouldn’t let them x-ray his teeth. But otherwise he did good.
We made the switch to this dentist because our other dentist dropped the state insurance the kids are on. But we wanted to go to this one anyway because they have an Orthodontist there that works well with the state insurance. We knew Sarah will probably need braces. It’s been evident for some time now, I was just lazy about setting up the consultation appointment. Well, when we had to make the switch to this dentist, I knew this would be easier. So I told them what our other dentist said, and they agreed, she will probably need braces. They do think the state insurance will cover it too (they don’t cover all ortho things ). So I finally set up the consultation appointment where the ortho will look at her teeth, and probably take a cast of them to send off to the state to see if they will cover the costs. Believe it or not, that appointment is for tomorrow. This is one of the many blessings and things I like about living in a small town. So tomorrow we’ll see what the Dr. says, and then probably wait a month or so to see if the state will cover it. And if they do, Sarah will have braces. Never really thought we would have to deal with braces. Sarah is o.k. with it, she’s been expecting it for a while. Most of her friends have them, so she doesn’t feel ‘alone’ about it.
Now the big shock was when they told me they think Paulie will need braces. I really wasn’t expecting that one. His teeth are straight and no overbite. But his teeth are very close together, to much so, I guess. So Paul and I will have to talk about this one. Paulie has a hard enough time brushing his teeth twice a day, and actually getting them clean. His sensory issues really effect his mouth, and he just doesn’t like anything touching there. Truly, I’m surprised I didn’t hear him scream with they were cleaning his teeth. Paul and I will talk it over and pray about it, and see where the Lord leads. For now, we’ll just see what happens with Sarah.
So that has been the past few days in our lives. Always hopping, but always blessed.
