Creating cards

I have finally finished making and sending out our Christmas cards. Our family should be receiving them by the end of the week. I took a picture and will share it with you all next week, after I’m sure they have received them. 🙂 I am really glad that I have them done. This year they took a bit longer and I really wanted to start creating other cards that weren’t so time sensitive. Since we got them all in the mail today, this afternoon I got to create some simple card using the cricut machine, rubber stamps and some of the paper I have. 🙂

My plan is to create a variety of birthday, thinking of you and thank you cards. I would like to have some made and ready for when I need them, instead of trying to put one together quickly when the need arises. I’m still growing in my creativity when it comes to designing cards, and honestly I don’t always like what I make. But then again I’ve always been my worst critic. 😉

I have a nice table to work on, but I can’t have all my paper and other things out at the same time. So today I picked a simple design, a couple styles of paper and went to work. Then the next time I make some cards I’ll pick different paper and layouts, that way eventually I’ll have a lot of different styles to choose from. At least it seems like a plan that will work to me. lol

Today’s were simple but I thought turned out pretty. I do want to get better at adding more layers, colors and extras, but for my first start, I thought these turned out pretty good.

Even though it’s the holiday season, I tried to stay away from holiday colors. I want to be able to use these any time during the year when a birthday or event comes up. I will probably make some winter type ones at some point. I had a lot of fun making these today, and I can’t wait to use my cricut machine even more. Plus I’ve put a couple of more card making items on my Christmas list, we’ll see if I end up with any of them. 😉 But for now, I’m having a great time using what I have and having fun making cards again. I’m even stamping more, now that I got the Stamp-a-majig. It makes my stamping look better, believe me.

It’s been a great day. It was the last day of our mini-vacation, and we’ve all had a blast. And now that the pressure is off in regards to our Christmas cards I can relax, crochet and make some cards when I have time. But first tomorrow starts our week back to a regular routine of lessons and work. But that’s ok. It’s the holiday season and no matter what we do it’s always a fun time. So what have you been creative with lately? Please share, I would really like to know.

  1. Those are great JoAnn. I love them. Your going to really get going with that and I’m glad. Can’t wait to get my christmas Card. Love

  2. Beautiful cards! I went through a period where I enjoyed stamping and making cards. I don’t have time these days, and the time I do have I spend cross-stitching. But I still have all my stamps.
