I’m on Vacation

We have been having the best vacation this week! We’ve had a good mixture of going out and about and staying home and relaxing. My mom came and visited us yesterday and stayed the night at a local hotel. So this morning we met up with her for a free breakfast at her hotel. It was such a great time.

Earlier this week we went to see some local falls about 1 1/2 hours away. It was such a nice drive, and the falls were beautiful. Yes, we took TONS of pictures, but I just haven’t had a chance to go through them yet. Our famous saying this whole week when we don’t get something done is “I’m on vacation!”. So that’s my excuse for why I haven’t had a chance to upload them yet. But don’t worry, you’ll see them at some point.

When my mom came out we got to go to the museum with her and see a King Tut exhibit. I really enjoy documentaries, especially about Egypt, Pharaohs, etc… and I had watched one recently about King Tut, which helped me understand this exhibit even more. I could take photos, but no flash photography, so I’m not too sure how the pictures turned out. Again, I haven’t had a chance to upload them, I’m on vacation! 😉

One thing I have been busy with is cleaning up and using my mom’s cricut machine. I’m so blessed that she is letting me use it for a while, she keeps saying a long while. We weren’t sure if it was broken, but after a little TLC, it seems to be fine. Mom’s not worried, she knows I’ll give it a good workout to make sure it’s all working fine. 😀 It’s going to help me make our Christmas cards, and I’m hoping some other cards. I have great ideas of what I want to do but the follow through is not always my strong point. I do know something will have to slow down a bit, I’m thinking that will be my online time. Actually I will just have to make sure I’m more intentional with my online time and use it wisely and not just browse all the time. lol I’m hoping to share some of my creations on my creativity page in the future, so make sure that page is on your blog reader. Plus don’t forget I’m on Facebook too and I’ll be sharing my photos on there sometimes.

I’m working on the Christmas gifts I’m making for the family. Yes, I’m beginning to realize how many different projects I have going on and I know I might be getting in over my head. But right now it’s what I really want to do, so we will see how it goes. I thought I might do more crafts on our vacation, but it hasn’t turned out that way. I’ve been enjoying time with the family so much, I haven’t had a lot of time to work on them. But tomorrow I think will be a mellow day, relaxing at home, so maybe I can get some done then. Unless of course the family wants to watch a new movie. I can work on my crafts watching things I’ve see before, because if I miss a part, it’s no big deal. But lately the family wants to keep watching all these new movies, and I’m not so good with working on crafts during new movies. I try, I do. I start crocheting or whatever, but then I stop for a bit to watch the movie and end up setting the craft aside. So that hasn’t been helping me this week, but I don’t mind. The memories and fun times I’m having with my family is so much more important.

Well, it’s late, and I have some card making books I want to flip through. I hope you are all having a blessed week, and remember to stay tuned for pictures of the fun we’ve had. Just don’t expect them this week, remember, I’m on vacation! 😀

  1. Sounds like a lovely time! You do love crafts so much, don’t you? Miss 14 does too, and she listens to audiobooks while she does crafts. I hope you have all the time you need to enjoy your gift making projects.

I’m trying to be more diligent about my online time too. If I’m focussed I get my own work done but learn nothing new; a bit (not too much) of blog visiting and surfing keeps me learning. It’s a hard balance.

You have an online job, so it’s even more of a balance for you, right? Is it manageable, or is it overwhelming for you? I’d love to hear how you make it work.

We’ve been considering setting up a gluten-free blog and trying to make some money from it, but I’m not sure if that would be a good idea. It would probably just be too much of a good thing. But I’m still toying with the idea of working on it while the kids write their NaNoWriMo novels in November.

    Have a great vacation weekend!

    1. Thank you SO much!

I like the idea of using Amazon on my blog. Not my normal one, because I KNOW I’d be biased in my reviews. But on a GF blog it would be an entirely different atmosphere, and it would be great to make some $$.

In the store today, 2 women asked me about gluten free baking. I took the plunge and offered to contact them by email once the site was up in November…so now my mailing list has started!

I know that about time management, too. It’s hard to be disciplined enough, but it sounds like you have a good approach to it.

      ((hugs))

  2. Sounds like you are enjoying your vacation (as you should!). Taking time out for family, fun and rest is so important. Looking forward to seeing your pictures once things return to “normal”. Have a great day, Heather

  3. I’m the same with movies! If it’s an old one, I sit and blog while it’s on, and every now and then I look. Otherwise, I migrate over to the couch and snuggle with Fernando to watch. 🙂 Hope you have a beautiful time!!

  4. all of a kind family

How fun to be on vacation! It’s so cool that you are getting done so many projects and thinking ahead to Christmas. We are praying over Christmas and deciding on making changes to give more Glory to the Father.

  5. Vacations are awesome! I would love to see some of the projects you are working on if you can share. I haven’t even started thinking about Christmas beyond a few things for my children.

  6. Hey JoAnn, you can get 21 Dyas to a More Disciplined Life for 99c until the end of tomorrow. I’m sorry you didn’t win, but it’s totally worth getting, even at the regular price on Friday. I put the link to buy it in the review just now because I had forgotten it.
