My crochet projects

Well, it’s that time of year again when I really want to start crocheting.  It seems with the change of season, curling up with a cup of tea, crocheting and having football on (yes, I like football) is what I really want to do.  I will say, even though Friday was the first day of Autumn, we have been experiencing summer like weather, so it doesn’t feel real fallish during the day.  But our nights get quite cool so I still feel like pulling out all my crafts and start working on them more.  🙂

I do like cross stitching too, and I have a project I am working on, but I’ve also started a couple of fall projects.  My mom bought me a book last year called 101 Fun to Crochet Projects.  It has some cute things in there and one of them that I am doing is called a pretzel magnet.  It’s a cute thing to make, and real easy.  I haven’t added the ‘salt’ yet, but this is my finished pretzel so far.  I think I might make a few of these to give as a gift topper or something like that.

Also in that book is a pattern for a Cornucopia Centerpiece.  It’s really the reason that I got the book.  I never tried to make it last year, but I’m going to try this year.  My mom and I went yarn shopping on Friday and now I have all the yarn I need to make it.  I’m little nervous about trying to make the actual cornucopia.  The fruit and veggies don’t look that hard, but the cornucopia looks a little intimidating.  So I’m going to start on the fruit and vegetables first.  That way if I start getting discouraged with the cornucopia, I can remind myself I already have the fruit and veggies done and need a place to put them.  😀

It’s not the best picture, but this is what it will look like when it’s done.

So those are the crochet projects I’m working on right now.  I hope to be able to show some pictures of the fruit as I get some done.  But right now I’m enjoying the pretzels, so I will probably make more of them first.

  1. oh you have motivated me JoAnn…. I have not done any knitting or crocheting all summer. that pretzel magnet is cute… I love the colors of the yarn you bought too and the cornucopia.
My love to you and your family, Auntie Ella

  2. The yarn colours are beautiful! I don’t crochet but it is on my bucket list of things I would like to learn.

The cooler weather does inspire me to knit more–but I usually do that when traveling and we don’t have any road trips planned. At home I still cross stitch.

  3. That pretzel is so cute. I can crochet but it stresses me out. I made the the cutest turkey two years ago but I wish the pattern was available in knit!

  4. Love your new website! I like that it’s so personal. I don’t know how to crochet, but I really like your project idea. It’s really creative and decorative. I could see that on a Thanksgiving table. Can’t wait to see you post the finished product!
