Our 19th wedding anniversary

Paul and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary this past Tuesday, June 11th. It’s hard to believe we’ve been married for 19 years, and I am blessed beyond words that the Lord brought us together.

I dropped the kids off at my parents house on Monday night, and they brought them back on Thursday afternoon. So Paul and I had two days and three nights all to ourselves. The kids love spending our anniversary weekend with my parents, and my parents love having them, but we all knew that this would probably be the last time we do it this way. Actually, they are more than old enough to stay home by themselves, but they wanted one last time. Next year will be our 20th. Paul and I are hoping to be able to go away somewhere while the kids stay home. Guess we’ll see what happens next year. 😉

Here are some pictures of our weekend.

Honestly, I think this is the best photo ever of our two lovely children. This was right before we left to take them to my parents house. Sarah doesn’t like that her younger brother is now taller than her. 😉

I love the smiles on both the kids and my mom. The kids love hanging with my mom and dad. I don’t know how I forgot to get a picture of them with my dad. 🙁 Next time.

Honestly I can’t believe I’m putting this one out there, but I was taking a self portrait on our first night. I should have just pulled the tripod out. lol

This was our anniversary meal. My hubby is great with the grill. The steaks were so good.

On our second day we decided to get in a time of shooting. It had been too windy the day before, and on this day it turned out we only had about a 45 minute window to shoot. After that the wind and rain came in. But we did find a nice spot in the mountains to shoot, and had such a good time. We hope to go more throughout the summer. It is really something we all enjoy doing.

Here is hubby getting ready to pull out the guns.

It was a great weekend for all of us. I always feel like once we’ve celebrated our anniversary summer vacation really starts. We have nothing major scheduled for the next month or so. Just some fun times of shooting, hanging with the family and enjoying the weather. Yep, I really like summer break. 😀

  1. LOL… I thought when you went out “shooting” it was photography. I thought, how cool that her husband does that too. Then I looked at the next picture and remembered… silly me!

Looks like a great time. Tomorrow we celebrate 17 years!

  2. I’m so glad you had such a fun anniversary. Good pictures. The kids are so grown up. They are great. Love

  3. Congratulations, we celebrate twenty years next week.
My crew went shooting today. My husband has a photo of the four year old from the outing I plan on posting on the blog.

  4. Congratulations, how FUN!!! The steaks do indeed look delicious! It’s really amazing how much your kids and mine have grown. I was thinking the other day as Ana and Sarah were talking, how priceless these yrs of homeschooling has been.

  5. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY JoAnn and Paul!
I can’t believe it has been 19 years. I well remember your wedding and what a good time your Auntie Charlotte and I had. I also remember the terrible thunder and lightening storm the night before we left to go home. We had stayed an extra day and boy did we get a sendoff. It was in the middle of the night and it was the worst I have even seen. Ann and I were in the bedrooms and charlotte was on the couch in the living room and after a while we heard a little voice from there saying, “Can we go home now?”
(Did I tell this story last year at your anniverysary?) haha

  6. Happy Anniversary! Sounds like fun times together. We will be celebrating our 17th anniversary this July. Wish we could go away together, but we will have to wait a few more years for that, as our two are younger.

  7. Wonderful! Congratulations! It looks like you had a wonderful anniversary, and I bet your kids did too.

We don’t have the same culture you do with guns and all, but my hubby and son are thinking of getting their licences this year. It looks like you don’t need a licence, do you?

We’re planning for our 25th next year! No idea what we’ll do. Maybe I’ll accompany my hubby to one of his conferences and tack a few days on at the end. That would be fun, but I still don’t feel good leaving the kids home alone. Maybe we’ll throw a huge party here and eat lots of chocolate and sausages. LOL
