Our Anniversary

For some reason I just can’t seem to get into a flow again of writing daily blog entries.  Not quite sure what the deal is, though I do know I’m reading a lot more, so that could be part of it.  My desire is to write more often, but obviously a desire is just not enough to put it into action.  Oh well, such is life I guess.
Paul and I had a great time for our 16th wedding anniversary last week.  My parents picked up the kids on Thursday afternoon, and I actually had about 3 hours completely to myself.  So what did I do?  Finished laundry and read a good book.  Paul and I had decided since he worked until 7:00pm on Thursday, I would just make a dinner.  I thought I would grill us a steak.  I’m not usually the one who grills, but I thought I would give it a try.  After my last attempt with greasy hamburgers and flames way to high for my liking, I watched the steak like a hawk.  I had it on low (just like I did with the hamburgers), and it was going great.  Turned it every 10-15 minutes, and it was looking perfect.  I was going to get it after their last 10 minutes on the grill.  I was inside reading, figuring at this point, there wasn’t much grease, so no high flames.  Chatted with Paul on the phone for a few minutes, then walked outside to see smoke pouring out of the grill.  I opened the hood, and saw my beautiful steak, flames eating it.  By the time I got it on the plate, the whole bottom side was charred.  What a way to start our anniversary.  So when Paul walked int he door I said, “Honey since I didn’t get you anything for our anniversary, I thought I would give you something I never have before, a burnt steak!”  We had a good laugh about it, then went out for burgers
On Friday we went out for a late breakfast, then went to the river.  There’s a beautiful park and walking path by the river, so we spent a long, leisurely afternoon there.  We walked, I took pictures, then we just sat by the river and talked.  It was so nice to just sit and talk, about dreams, our past and our future.  It was a sweet time.  After that we went for a nice drive in the mountains.  At this point it was dinner time, so we went to the Olive Garden, and had a very yummy meal.  Then we went to the movies.  Oh, we also went to a book store in town and both bought a book.  It’s turning into an anniversary tradition.  We bought a book last year too.  He bought a history book, and I got a digital photography book
Since Paul had to work Saturday, I went by myself to pick up the kids.  I stayed for a few hours at my parents house and visited for a bit.  It was nice to see the old town and some old friends.  After that, the kids and I packed up and started the 1 1/2 hour drive home.   So that was what we did for our anniversary, and we all had a great time.  The kids really enjoyed themselves at my parents house, and obviously Paul and I had a great time.
Not much else going on now.  This is our Friday today, as Paul has Tuesday and Wednesday off, it will be nice to rest up again.  Here are some pictures of our day.

The water is never that close to the walking path.  The river was overflowing its banks.
Trying to show how fast the river was flowing.  Never seen it flow so fast.
My handsome hubby.
See how close we are to the river?  It was so serene.
