Some fun ramblings with a blog question

We had a really good 4th of July. We had a cook out at a friends house then walked down to the area where our town shoots off the fireworks. It was a good time, and the fireworks were fun to see.

Since then I’ve been busy with work and helping our old church get ready for VBS. I’ve helped for 4-5 years, and being the administrative assistant, it’s a job that I really need to train someone on. Even though we don’t go to this church anymore, I didn’t feel right just leaving them without an assistant. So this will be my last year, and I’m trying very hard to make sure that people know what I do so someone else can do it next year. 😉

Yesterday we went to see Jars of Clay in concert, they were the best. We were blessed with some tickets and got to go with some friends from our church. We met them for dinner first, played some frisbee golf and then went to the concert. It was such a fun night. I’m really enjoying getting to know the people from our church.

Then tonight we went to another friends house for a VBS potluck. It was suppose to be an outdoor potluck with swimming, outdoor games and enjoying the warm weather. But instead it’s been raining all day and it is chilly. Obviously the party was moved indoors, but it was still a blast.

We are enjoying having Paul home for 4 days. He doesn’t have to go back to work until Tuesday, which is nice. It’s been a fun, relaxing time so far, and relaxing is just what he’s needed. He’s been working hard for the past few weeks, and really needs some down time.

Oh, I’ve been listening to a lot of audio books while I’m working too. Not only did I buy some, my library now has two ways to rent audio books online! I am so happy about this. I’m able to finish an Amish book series from Wanda E. Brunstetter that I couldn’t finish before. I’m looking forward to trying out some new authors in the coming weeks and months.

A blogging question, do you write down topics you want to blog about eventually? I always have things I want to blog about, but never have time, at the time, to blog about them. Then when I do have time, like now, I can never think of what to blog about except what I’ve been up to lately. 🙁 I’m seriously thinking of starting a list of things to blog about, so when I do have time to blog, it’s a productive time. And I’m not just boring you with continual ramblings about nothing much. 😉 So please tell me, do you have some sort of list or something so you remember what you wanted to share on your blog?

  1. That’s a good question. I don’t keep a short list, but sometimes something happens and I think, “I should blog about that.”

I’m curious to know what others think.

  2. Yes, I try to keep a list of ideas in my daily calendar. Sometimes I start a post in blogger and just save it in draft so I can come back later and work on it. Also, I have a little lap word processor called a Neo that is a boon for capturing your thoughts while you have them. That’s a post I’ll be doing soon!

  3. Hi Joann,

How is it that you can listen to audio books while you work? I wouldn’t be able to do anything that way. I love audiobooks for traveling, however. It makes long trips go by much quicker.

I didn’t get to go sea kayaking today afterall. It was too windy and so they canceled it :(. It is for the best, because my cold is just getting worse. We had already driven to Homer, so we tried out a new trail that went to a beach we hadn’t visited before. It was quiet and beautiful. Maybe, if I have energy, I’ll post about it after a catch a quick nap.

  4. It sounds like you’ve had a wonderful week with lots of excitement and now a relaxing weekend all at home together.

I have so many things to write about, but only time to do about half of them. Often I scribble a few notes in my to do binder, or on a piece of paper by my bed. For things with deadlines, like reviews, there’s a list on the filing cabinet beside my desk.

It helps that I have a sort of weekly plan for my blog: Monday: HS topic, Tues review: Wed: a mom tip of some sort, Th: another review, Fri: Fit Mommy, Sat: weekly wrap up. If I want to post anything else, I’ll do twice a day, or save something up for when I have less time to write. I’ve been wanting to write about our outings, but that hasn’t happened so far. And about beautiful plants and flowers and bugs, and so many other things. Maybe I should start another blog about those, but it seems that then I’ll spend too much time blogging. 😉

  5. Glad you had a good 4th.

I just start a post, even if it’s just a title or maybe a couple of sentences and leave it in draft. But then when I think of it a couple of months or so, the feeling of posting aobut it has left and I delete it, hahaha. My problem is that I rarely read long anything on the internet — I have the problem of rambling on and on and I try not too since I don’t like to read long myself, I figure no one wants to read my rambles either. I’m still working on that one.
