Homeschool Mother’s Journal ~ 9/30

In my life this week…It should be a good week.  We are finishing up our vacation today.  This is probably our last, long vacation for the year (we’ve been off for about 10 days).  We’ll have long weekends and days off here and there, but that’s it, nothing this long.  We had a great time.  This week will be getting back into the swing of routines, school lessons and work.

In our homeschool this week…Honestly, our week this week is getting back into the swing of lessons again.  We’ve started and stopped lessons so much since August, all planned stops, but still, we haven’t had more than a week or two of lessons in a row for a while.  We are now done with time off and vacations, so we are going to have to do more than just two weeks of work and then stop.  😉  I feel like our ‘summer’ is officially over now.  All vacations are done, and serious schooling is starting.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…No tips or advice, I’m just blessed we can take off as much time as we want/need and still get our lessons done.  It’s always such a blessing to be a homeschooling family.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…We have some doctor appointments this week, and I’m hoping to start going to a Woman’s Bible Study on Tuesday nights again like I used to.  I have the book so it’s just making sure I actually get out the door Tuesday night.  😀

My favorite thing this past week was…Vacation, by far.  It was so great to be able to relax with the family and enjoy our time together.  Nothing major planned, no constant running, just enjoying times of relaxation.

My kiddos favorite thing this past week was…Vacation for them too.  I don’t think either of them want to start back up again this week.

Things I’m working on…I’m crocheting a blanket that I started last spring.  It’s going pretty well.  I also need to start working on what I’m making for family Christmas presents this year.

I’m cooking…While on vacation I’ve made soup, pot roast, baked ham, and scolloped potatoes.  It’s been a very yummy vacation.  😉

I’m grateful for…Our health insurance.  Seeing the issues with health insurance lately, and the medical things our family is dealing with, our insurance is such a blessing.

I’m praying for…Friends in Colorado who were evacuated with the floods there.  They are back in their house, but they don’t have full utilities and no road to drive on, walking 1/2 a  mile from where they can park and their house.  But thankfully no one was hurt, and their house wasn’t too badly damaged.

Something I am ogling or have my eye on…I haven’t found it yet, but I’m trying to find a new purse, one that I can easily carry my tablet in and that is fun!  😀  Kids gave me money for a purse for my birthday.  I know what I want, just haven’t been able to find it yet.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share (silly, serious or both!)…This shot is from Sarah’s first fencing tournament she went to this past Saturday.  She had a great time, and did real good.

  1. So glad you had such a long vacation. Sounds like a lot of fun. What Bible Study are you trying to go to? What book? I sure wish I had a good one here. Every so often think I should try one again at home, but still not peaceful about it. Love pictures of Sarah and her Fencing outfit. She looks great. Glad she loves it so. Love

  2. Hi JoAnn. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you faithfully visiting my blog and leaving comments. After homeschoolblogger and all the comaraderie we had there, I think I would get disappointed if NO ONE left any comments… :).

I don’t know if you know this already, but it is hard to read your blog. There is a sidebar on the left that starts with “share” and a carrot that doesn’t move off of your text, and in the middle there are a bunch of icons for social media that sticks in the middle of your page and I have to scroll the test or picture away from it to be able to read in the very top 3/4 of an inch to not have the text covered.

Anyway, again, I want to thank you for sticking with me and your virtual friendship.

    Carol

    1. I enjoy reading your posts and all that you and your family are doing. I do miss the camaraderie from the old HSB days too, but I’m so glad that there are some of us that have kept in touch like this. It is truly a blessing from the Lord.

Thank you so much for telling me about the issues with my site. I didn’t realize that was happening. I’ve made some changes and if you get a chance sometime in the future, can you look at my site again? I think it should be better now.
